How Do You Build Guitar Tube Amps?
Many electric guitar enthusiasts use vacuum-tube-based amplification systems. These amplifiers are the systems of choice for guitarists who prefer their “warm” sound. However, since vacuum tube amplifiers are an older technology, it can be difficult to find one that utilizes vacuum tubes rather than the more modern solid-state transistor amplifier. For this reason, some guitarists choose to build their own tube amplifier. Cut eight lengths of wire and strip the ends of each wire of ½ inch of insulation. Connect one end of the first wire to the center connection on the audio connector, and solder the connection. Connect the other end of the first wire jointly to one of the 1 MΩ resistor leads and to the triode grid connection (pin 2). Solder this connection. Connect one end of the second wire to the sleeve connection on the audio connector, and solder the connection. Connect the other end of this wire jointly to the free lead on the 1 MΩ resistor and to one of the leads of the 1.5 kΩ re
