How Do You Lay Sod Yourself Pt2?
Continuing from part 1 of this article on how to lay sod yourself. Once you return home with the sod before you begin spread out your top soil and make sure there is at least 1 inch of space from the top of the cut out area vertically. Now open up your bag of seed and spread half of the bag across the soil. Next use a rake to mix in the seed really good. Don’t wet the ground yet! Now begin to lay your sod. To lay sod yourself isn’t really a science just make sure all the edges come together. Use a snap knife to cut the sod to fit. Always cut the sod on the root side it’s easier than trying to cut a line through the grassy side of the sod. After you have completed this step and you have your sod laid yourself grab the other half of the bag of seed. Spread the majority of the bag across the newly sodded area and the rest lightly around the area that isn’t sodded. This will help the sod to blend better with your old grass. Finally water the heck out of the new sod area. Use the water hose
