Where facilitators are not in post, practices will be able to access all the PRIMIS+ tools from the web portal. PCTs should be aware that facilitators have a much broader role than just supporting the IM&T DES. High-quality data and good information management skills in general practice are increasingly necessary, not only for patient care, but also clinical governance, practice-based commissioning, sharing of data with other healthcare professionals, implementation of NHS Connecting for Health services and, last but not least, provision of data to the PCT and the Department of Health.
