What makes Sunshine Division unique?
A. First, we serve people around the clock, every day of the year—thanks to our long and unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau. In addition to what we distribute out of our North Portland warehouse, we provide each of the five police precinct stations with a steady supply of food boxes for distribution by police officials. Plus officers on the street (as well as a precinct’s front-desk personnel) can give a Sunshine Division referral card to anyone they believe needs our services, which entitles the bearer to a box of food, no questions asked. Then there’s Threadz, our clothing store, which may well be the most accessible, well supplied, and humanitarian clothing-relief service in the city, offering clients a dignified “shopping” experience. And cops can take advantage of our Izzy’s Kids clothing program—supplied by Sunshine Division with Fred Meyer gift cards, they can take low-income kids shopping for essential, new school clothes.
