What is the IKWF?
The Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF) began when Ken Draft, Illinois Wrestling Chairman from 1969 to 1971, appointed Ron Silverstein as Illinois Kids Director. Silverstein’s task was to put together a statewide program for wrestlers eighth grade and younger. During the administration of Ron Silverstein and Arch Richoz the concept of club based structure was formed. It was Illinois right in on the ground floor establishing this organization with Terry Weber of New Lenox being elected the first Secretary/Treasurer. During the 1976-77 season, USA Wrestling initiated the national card and club registration systems. This was a direct result of a proposal made by IKWF President Larry Stonitsch.
