What is RISE?
RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment)® is a national not-for-profit trade association representing producers and suppliers of specialty pesticides and fertilizers. Established in 1991, RISE serves as a resource and advocate on pesticides and fertilizers and provides current and accurate information on issues and research affecting the industry. The association also monitors legislative and regulatory issues in Washington, D.C. and in the states.
RISE is a curriculum support program designed to improve international studies and multicultural education in Northeastern California schools. Under the auspices of the CSU, Chico colleges of Communication and Education, and Behavioral and Social Sciences, and the School of Graduate, International and Interdisciplinary Studies, RISE provides support to students, teacher candidates and classroom teachers in the forms of standards-aligned curriculum materials, including books, thematic units, audio-visual materials, costumes and artifacts. Co-directors of the RISE Library, Maureen Fredrickson and Virginia Sherman, also conduct tours and workshops on artifact-based lessons by appointment.
