Whether your truck is your livelihood or simply the workhorse you use while working on the farm, a tool box is necessary to keep everything organized in the truck bed. Commercially built truck tool boxes are available from a variety of manufacturers, but it is easy to build a wooden box that will perform just as well. Follow these simple steps. Measure the distance between the bed rails in the back of your pickup. Subtract 3 inches from that length to give you the length of your tool box. Measure from the floor of your truck bed to the top of the bed rails and add 3 inches to this measurement to get the height of your box. In this example, we will make it 24 inches deep. Cut four 2″x4″ boards to the height that you specified, 4 boards to the length and 4 to the width.
