How is jaundice caused?
Jaundice can be caused by contaminated food or water. This happens if either food or water is contaminated with sewage water. Hence this jaundice occurs more often in the rainy season when such contamination increases and it can lead to epidemics of jaundice. This type of jaundice is either hepatitis A or hepatitis E. Another type of jaundice is caused by spread through contaminated blood transfusions or use of contaminated syringes or needles. This is either hepatitis B or C.
