The Goodyear Welt is a method of shoe construction used in the traditional manufacturing of men’s dress shoes. The insole, upper and ‘welt’ are sewn together before stitching the welt to the outsole, leaving the upper surface of the insole free of tacks and stitches. The benefit a shoe manufactured using the Goodyear Welt construction is that it allows a constant flow of air to move through the shoe, keeping the shoes ventilated, durable and strong.
