Most leagues cannot afford a bank track and or a place to keep one. Those leagues skate on a track measured to mimic the bank track oval on a flat surface, hence “flat track” derby. WFTDA is short for the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, who are in charge of ranking, rule updates, and anything else WFTDA-oriented. Men’s teams will skate flat track derby in accordance with the same rules.
