Should smoking be banned everywhere?

No. In open air, and away from entry or exits of public buildings should still be allowed. I live in California. We have some of the strictest laws against smoking in the nation. In one city, you cannot smoke anywhere (no exceptions) public within the city limits. I don’t mind that no smoking is allowed in public buildings. I personally like the fact that I won’t have some guy smoking a foul cigar while I’m having dinner. I am smoker. I will happily sit in the non smoking section. I won’t light up in your home. I won’t smoke in your car. If we are out in public, I will do my very best to keep it away from you. I won’t smoke around the kids. If more smokers would take this attitude, all would be well and good. Smoking should be limited in some cases. But if it is banned everywhere, they may as well ban the morning latte. There is much more dangerous things out than a cigarette.

YES. It WOULD be outright banned entirely, except for the “vested interests”, the manufacturers and the Governments that reap huge benefits from the sales. The world would be a far nicer place without cigarettes and tobacco products, with the health problems and the environmental pollution they create. Did you know that the British Government, for many years, grew, imported and distributed Opium? Why? It was profitable! Tobacco is today known to have very serious consequences when used. Myself, I fail to understand why ANYONE would START smoking today, given all the information available. If any Government had guts, they would just ban it. In the meantime, it’s good for the coffers. They can afford to tell people they shouldn’t smoke and why, with some of the money they rake in from the habit. Then they can also increase their salaries, being such good guys. The tobacco companies are always looking for a new angle to rope people in. The Governments only put the brakes on a little bit.
