How did DaWanda begin?
DaWanda was founded in Berlin, Germany, towards the end of 2006. Its co-founders, Claudia Helming and Michael Pütz, realised that they knew numerous talented people producing handmade items, but there was no organised way for them to reach interested buyers with the same currency – and so DaWanda was born. Starting off in German, it soon expanded to include English and French platforms, too. Today DaWanda is home to more than 40,000 sellers offering nearly half a million items for sale.
