How Do You Make Celery Seed Tea?
Celery seed is a spice that can be used medicinally as well as provide flavoring to foods. The seeds are very small and range in color from light to dark brown. The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) explains that in non-Western cultures, celery seed is used a dietary supplement to reduce inflammation and to combat water retention. The seeds can be crushed and steeped to make tea. Measure out 1 cup of water per serving of celery seed tea and set to boil in a tea kettle. Crush 1 tsp. of celery seeds per serving with the bottom of a glass measuring cup. Put the crushed seeds into the measuring cup, which will serve as a tea steeper. Pour the boiling water into the measuring cup and allow the tea to steep. The celery seeds can steep for 10 to 20 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea. Pour the steeped tea through a strainer and into a mug. UMMC recommends three daily servings of celery seed tea for medicinal uses.
