How Do You Format An MP3 Player?
An MP3 player can begin malfunctioning due to a software update or if a damaged or infected file is synced onto the MP3 player. Before you consider dumping the MP3 player for a new or updated model, you can format the MP3 player in order to fix the device. Formatting the MP3 player will remove all files from the portable device and set the player back to its original factory settings, letting you essentially start over. Plug the MP3 player into the computer using the cable that was included with that MP3 player. Open Windows Media Player. Click on the button labeled “Sync” located at the top of the program. Click the arrow that is found at the bottom of the “Sync” button, and a drop menu will appear. Select the name of the MP3 player found in the drop menu, and a second drop menu will open. Click “Format” in the second drop menu to format the MP3 player. Plug the MP3 player into the computer using the cable that was included with that MP3 player. Click “Start” in the taskbar. Select “C
