How Do You Level A Brick Pathway?

0

A brick pathway can add a charming touch to your landscaping around your home. Unfortunately, if you live in an area where the ground is subject to freezing and thawing in the winter months, the brick pathway may heave and be unleveled. With a bit of work, you can level the brick pathway back to its original shape. Locate the unleveled bricks in the pathway. Pry them up with the tip of the shovel blade. Be careful not to break any of the bricks. Remove one more row of bricks around the unleveled spot. This gives you more room to work. Dig out any high places in the compacted sand underneath the bricks. Fill in low places with sand. Level the entire open area. Compact it well. You can tamp the area with the back of your shovel to help compact the sand. Check the bricks for breaks and cracks. Replace any damaged bricks. Even though you may not be able to exactly match the colors of the new and old bricks, the weather can soon help the bricks match once again. Set the bricks back in place
