How Do You Plant Trees & Shrubs?
Trees and shrubs are grown and sold primarily in containers. They have most likely been living in a container from the onset until consumers purchase them to plant. So the first time they’re ever able to be in the ground and develop roots freely is when you plant them in your yard. Ideally you want to encourage the tree’s or shrub’s roots to leave this ideal pampered container environment consisting of rich and loose soil and venture out to find food and water in a strange daunting place…your yard soil. When looking to purchase your plants or trees, choose those that are not heavily root bound. Have an associate show you the root ball. If the roots are running around the sides and bottom tightly and there is little soil left in the ball or if the roots are scant and the soil looks as if it will fall away from the roots, then look elsewhere. You want to purchase plants that are well established in the pot where the root ball is solid and you can see the healthy roots looking to ventur
