MT: Yes. I was recently on Radio 4’s Food Programme and heard scathing criticism about the current situation, in which trainees enter the catering trade with GNVQ and NVQ qualifications, and yet lack basic skills. The new framework will enable employers to have real ownership of vocational courses, playing a role in providing work experience and attesting to students’ skills.
