Patterdale offers a very good selection of facilities, foremost among them an excellent drying room and laundry. There’s a TV lounge, common room, garden, and cycle rental, and the hostel offers breakfast and dinner for an additional sum. You can get details about walking, climbing, or visiting Lake District attractions at the front desk. Nearby is Helvellyn, and many other peaks offering spectacular views, or for a more relaxing day there is a steamer that goes round Ullswater, which lies just to the north.
