Where Is Marti?
Marti basically is a small town located in the north-eastern region of Cuba’s Matanzas Province. According to the census conducted in the year 2004 the total population of this region is 14,280. The municipality of Marti covers a total area of 886 square kilometres, including the town of Marti, comprising of the communities of Guamutas, Lacret, La Teja and Rio de la Palma. Marti is positioned on the north-central coast of Cuba, and consists of the Lagoons Ingles, Bibnasi and Majaguillar. It province is crossed by the rivers La Palma, Jucaro and San Manuel. The town was founded in the year 1835 and was initially known as Hato Nuevo, it was later renamed to Marti in the year 1898 to honour independence hero Jose Marti.
