In the Nov./Dec., 1994 issue of The Plain Truth, editor John Halford wrote an article entitled, “The Challenge of Africa”. In that article, Sister Mariola Mierzejewska, Superintendent of the Kasisi Children’s Orphanage in Zambia stated, “All I need is 12 kwacha (about 2¢) and I can feed a child for a day.” Because of her comment, The Children’s Mite was born.
