How Is Zeolite Made?
Zeolite is a group of some 175 different minerals. Phillipsite, pollucite, scolecite, sodalite and stilbite are common and popular types of zeolites. They are characterized by their absorbent nature and are often used in the industrial world. Zeolites are used in heating and cooling, detergents, agriculture and in medical equipment to name just a few of it’s uses. Both natural and synthetic zeolites are currently used; however, natural zeolites are more common as they are fairly easy to mine and are in abundance around the world. Zeolites can be found in India, the Americas and everywhere in between. Zeolites are most commonly secondary minerals. They are born out of volcanic lava that cools and forms into volcanic rock.
