How Do You Replace A Coil Pack On A VR6?
Volkswagen’s VR6 engine has been used in a variety of VWs, from the Corrado to the Golf and everything in between. One problem that these engines experience consistently, however, is a break on the coil pack used to help control the spark in the engine. It’s an expensive part to replace, and can be fixed with epoxy–but if you want to be sure that it won’t happen again, replacing the coil pack with a new unit is the best way to go, as the dealer has fixed the issue on their replacement parts. Pop the hood and locate the coil pack on the engine. It’s on the passenger side just below the valve cover, and has all the spark plug wires running into it. Unplug the wiring harness on the bottom of the coil pack using your hands. Label each spark plug wire on the coil pack using the masking tape and marker. (It’s not critical to know which cylinder plug wire goes where, but you want to label which wire goes to which post.) Label the top left wire “A,” then label the corresponding connection on
