Hard Candy is a popular way to make unique favors for weddings and parties. There are hundreds of molds available on the market. However, you can make your own mold if you have a unique item that you would like to see in hard candy. Here are two ways to make molds. If you want details or need to make many pieces of candy, use the silicone plastique method. For smaller batches or one time use or for stained glass candy, use the foil method. Mix equal parts of the two colors of the silicone together. Knead into a dough that is uniform in color. Roll or flatten the silicone between sheets of wax paper with either a rolling pin or your hands. Rub a small amount of the silicone dough into the details of the piece being molded. The rolled dough should be twice as thick at the piece. You will have about 30 minutes to work while the dough will remain pliable.
