What Is Post Partum Hemorrhage?
Abnormal vaginal bleeding which affects the health of the mother after delivery of the baby, unto 6 weeks. There are generally two types of Post partum hemorrhage. Primary post partum hemorrhage, starts after delivery within the first twenty four hours. Secondary post partum hemorrhage, starts after twenty four hours to six weeks. There are three main causes of post partum hemorrhage. 1. Atonicity of uterus: such as, multiple pregnancy, drugs, anesthesia, retained placenta, prolonged labor, multi parity, hydramnios, and couvekairee uterus. 2. Trauma to genital tract: such as parautheral tissues bleed heavily even with minor cuts due to cavernous tissues, vaginal tear, forniceal tear, and lower segment rupture. 3. Hypo or afibrinenemia: such as intra uterine death, amniotic fluid emboli, and hematoma perineal or broad ligament. Bleeding from the vaginal after the 3rd stage is usually obvious.
