How Do You Remove Dents & Dings?
There’s a simple way to remove most dents and dings from metal surfaces, and all it requires is a can of compressed air (the kind used to clean computer keyboards) and a standard hair dryer. Step 1 Hold the can of compressed air up-side-down, and spray the dented area until it frosts over. Make certain the entire dent or ding is covered with a thin layer of frost. Step 2 Warm the area immediately with a hand-held hair dryer. The change in temperature should cause the metal to “pop” out and the dent or ding to virtually vanish. Step 3 Repeat the process if the entire dent or ding has not been removed. Seldom will it take more than two tries to remove a dent or a ding in a sheet metal surface. Step 4 Wash the surface, and sand it lightly with 0000-grit steel wool, if necessary.
