Is the food chain like the food pyramid?
The food chain is not the same as the food pyramid. The food chain is a hierarchy of eating where one organism uses another, usually a lower member, as a food source. Chemicals can concentrate up the food chain to animals higher up, including humans. In contrast, the food pyramid was developed by the US Department of Agriculture and is used as a guide for planning a balanced diet. It is based on six food groups and the guide recommends the appropriate number of servings from each group. See slide #28 or report page 77.
