Is digital printing inferior technology?
With recent technological advances, digital printing is no longer considered inferior to offset printing. The digital age is upon us. New digital printing processes are beginning to approach the quality of traditional offset printers. Major digital printing manufacturers like HP, Xerox and Kodak are pushing the bounds of what digital printing methods can achieve, and the results can be stunning. At the 2008 DRUPA print trade event (which is like the Olympics of the printing industry where every four years print’s biggest players meet to get a look at the future of their business), in Dusseldorf, Germany, there were significant advances in all aspects of digital printing: from prepress to print to processing.
