World Wrestling Entertainment has lashed out at the world’s media for speculation “roid rage” was behind the double murder-suicide involving superstar wrestler Chris Benoit. Authorities yesterday revealed Benoit – one of the stars of the WWE – strangled his wife, suffocated his seven-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with the pulley of a weightlifting machine. In a statement posted on its website, the WWE said it was stunned and saddened by the tragic events that had unfolded. However, the WWE said media speculation over possible “roid rage” was unfounded.
