Myositis can develop in both children and adults. It is associated quite frequently with another disease called fibromyalgia. Myositis involves inflammation of the muscles due to your immune system attacking healthy tissue and falls under an autoimmune disease. It’s important that once you are diagnosed with myositis, you exercise regularly and get plenty of rest. Treatment involves medication for pain and anti-inflammatory medication and possibly physical therapy.
