Is wind power realistic?
This is a concept very much in its infancy as far as domestic households are concerned. The most important message to get across is that you need to be living in an area where you would benefit from enough wind! Town locations are generally less suitable. It’s more likely to be possible if you live out in the countryside in exposed situations, or perhaps on a coastline. Small wind systems are generally not cost effective at the moment, however new products are coming out all the time. We are undertaking field trials as we write to develop the concept. It clearly has long term potential, and the industry believes that mass commercialisation could happen by around 2015.
