Snack preparation areas are available in all buildings which include microwaves and sinks. Double-style buildings (with the exception of Hulbert Hall) and Higgins Hall have kitchens with ovens.

In Marguerite Hall every floor has a kitchenette. Each resident apartment has a full sized kitchen.

Each dormitory suite has a microwave and small refrigerator. Each dormitory has at least one full kitchen. Carnegie Mellon has a strictly enforced ‘no-open-flame’ policy. Food markets are accessible by public transportation. There is also a convenience store located in the University Center building.
