Selegiline is a MAO-B inhibitor which slows the breakdown of l-dopa. Used in combination with l-dopa containing drugs such as Sinemet it can improve their efficacy. Selegiline is in a group of medications called monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) inhibitors. Selegiline is sometimes referred to by its brand names Eldepryl or Zelapar.
