Many stylist aspire to own their own salon one day. This is a realistic goal, provided one is determined enough. Step 1 Work as a hair stylist for a couple years. You must become familiar with the industry. Work on not only your hair styling skills but also people skills. Your ability to build a loyal client base will be critical to starting your own salon. Network a lot with other stylists. You might be able to find a business partner. Step 2 Be responsible and save a significant amount of your earnings, possibly living at home with parents to save on rent. Build a good credit rating so you will be able to take out a business loan. Step 3 Raise additional money. Borrow money from friends and family. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has special programs for women entrepreneurs. If you have a good credit rating and have been working in the styling industy for several years they will be more willing to give you a loan.
