Each state has a group of lawyers that give some of there free time to helping others. You should have a “Lawyer Referral Service” in your area, listed in the phone book. Or your can call your Consumer Affairs or Attorney Generals office for this information. They offer a free consultation and depending on the nature of the problem, free advice and assistance. In some cases, they may charge a small fee if you are low income. If you have law suit, most attorneys will do it on a contingency basis. Meaning if you go to court and win, they usually get about one third of the settlement. However, if you lose, they do not get anything. Check with “Legal Aid”, Lawyer Referral” and your phone book under attorneys so see who would offer a free consultation. Then if they cannot help you, they can refer you to someone who can. There is also a group called Legalese that help according to your income.
