If the set screws have a hex head, use a small Allen wrench to loosen the screws. Step 2 Remove the towel rack from the wall. Remove the screws from the metal wall anchor plates. Use a drill with a Phillips-head bit. Step 3 Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the plastic wall anchors. Insert the screwdriver into the center of each anchor and pull it out. Grasp the edge of the anchor with a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull the anchor all the way out of the wall.
