How Do You Fix Leaks On AC Units?
AC units allow us to escape from the brutal heat of the summer months. We can retreat into our cooled “oasis” and enjoy comfortable temperatures. However, from time to time problems can occur with the AC unit. One of those problems is a leaky AC unit. A leaky AC unit can leave a mess of water on your floor if not corrected. It is fairly simple to fix leaks on AC units when you know how to identify where the leak is coming from. Instructions Step 1 Open up the access panel to the evaporator coil to get a look at the drain pan. The evaporator coil is the cooling AC coil located on top of the HVAC unit. Step 2 Vacuum out the drain pan to remove any dirt and debris. Concentrate around the outlet port where the water drains into the drain hose. A lot of dirt and debris build up in this area. Step 3 Inspect the drain pan for possible holes where the water could be leaking through. If found, the drain pan and/or evaporator coil might have to be replaced by an HVAC technician.
