How do timeshares work? is it a good investment?

Timeshares can be good if you do your research and find a situation to match your lifestyle. For example, I own a timeshare, actually referred to as a fractional, and rather than thinking of it as weeks, I bought points. My timeshare is with Hyatt. I bought a certain number of points. I bought in San Antonio, Texas, and I live in Los Angeles. I like the 12 properties Hyatt currently offers, and they continue to add more properties. I just used my points to spend 1 week in Aspen the week before Christmas. I have 1 week booked in Puerto Rico at the end of this month, and I am spending 4 days at the Ranch in San Antonio. In addition, I can opt to use my points overseas rather than the U.S. I think Fractionals are good if you buy with a good company like Hyatt and at a location where it is not too expensive like in Texas.
