What is soul or spirit ?
Soul or spirit (citta) is not really the same as consciousness or mind (vinnana) as understood by some. Soul or spirit is liberated by letting go of body and mind. Soul or spirit (citta) is deathless. Nothing can destroy soul or spirit (citta), but temporary lives in any kind of living things or non-living things according to the law of nature. There are six levels of soul (citta) : – The purified soul of Buddhas, Arahats (no more defilement) awakening worthy soul. – Anagami soul ranges from seven to sixteen levels in the plane of Brahman. If the soul reaches this sublime state, it will not have to suffer rebirth. – Sakadgani soul, sotapana soul is a noble person ; divine beings in heaven. – The soul of nice people who serve mankind, virtuous people. – Soul of middle-class people alternately with good and bad actions. – Lowest class soul suffering in hell,animal kingdom.
