What is Estriol?
Estriol is an estrogen produced in large amounts during pregnancy. It is produced almost exclusively during pregnancy and is the major estrogen produced in the normal human fetus. High levels of Estriol are seen in gestation, otherwise production is low regardless of menopausal status or gender. Estriol is also believed to be the safest of the three estrogens, not having the carcinoginic effects that estradiol or estrone do.
