The new HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations are intended to standardize the way health care data is exchanged electronically in order to streamline the processing of health care transactions, reduce the volume of paperwork, save money, and provide better service for providers, insurers and patients. Consult with your organization to determine how HIPAA impacts on your program and what procedures they have put into place to assure compliance.
