Every dashing hero wants a rapier to stave off imaginary foes. A wooden sword can be a great deal of fun for children and adults alike, offering a world of swashbuckling fun to those ready to show a little industry and ingenuity. Step 1 Select a piece of board no longer then three feet wide and place it on a sawhorse. Mark the width and dimensions of the sword with a carpenter’s pencil. Step 2 Carefully cut the outline with an electric power saw. Of course, as with any power tool, it is very important to be careful when you undertake this step to make your wooden sword. Step 3 Sand the sword to make sure you get rid of any splinters. An errant splinter can really hurt when you move on to more swashbuckling activities.
