Two forms must be completed by the personal representative of the estate to obtain a waiver. These forms are: Application for Tennessee Inheritance Tax Waiver and Inheritance Tax Release for Real or Personal Property. The Application provides general information about the estate and only needs to be filed once. The Release form is the waiver and should include a description of the security being transferred. A separate release form needs to be completed for each different security. It takes approximately seven to 10 days to process a waiver.
