In the early 1800s, many Christians in the UK became concerned at the failures of the major churches to teach and adhere to the truth of scripture. Mr. John Nelson Darby and other godly men led a movement to recover the teachings of Christ and His apostles and this quickly spread universally and has been maintained ever since, in spite of attacks from various sources. It is referred to by us as the recovery of the truth.
