How Do You Replace Car Door Locks?
The car door lock on the driver side door gets used more than the twin on the passenger side. When the lock quits working, it needs to be replaced. Here are the steps to replace car door locks. Step 1 Remove the arm rest and any speaker covers. Next remove the door panel, being careful not to break the plastic clips. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door handle. Use a pair of pliers to pop out the plastic clip, then twist the clip to allow the interior door handle to swing free. Step 2 Disconnect the rod from the lock core, located inside the door. Remove the two bolts holding the door handle assembly, making sure you mark the position of the rod before you open the clip and remove the door handle assembly. Step 3 Install a new lock. Move the clip from the snap ring to release the lock core. Put in another lock core, then move the clip back to the snap ring to hold the new core in place. Put the door handle assembly back in the door and reconnect the rod. Put both bol
