It requires little more than some ingenuity to pop out dings like they were never there at all. The Dry Ice Method Step 1 Use a lighter or a hair dryer to heat the dented area of the door. If you use a lighter, it helps to place a piece of aluminum foil between the lighter and the door to protect the paint. It should only take about 30 seconds to heat the area. Step 2 Hold a piece of dry ice in the center of the dented area for 10 to 15 seconds. Step 3 Remove the ice and wait for the ding to pop out on its own. Wipe the area clean with a soft clean cloth.
