You can troubleshoot for a cigar lighter malfunction in your car with a common 12-V test light. Most of the time, you will find the problem is a blown fuse. Start by checking the fuse and work your way around the cigar lighter circuit to find the problem in a few easy steps. Step 1 Locate the cigar lighter fuse in the fuse panel underneath the dashboard on the driver side.
