How Do You Fix A Car Cigar Lighter?
You can troubleshoot for a cigar lighter malfunction in your car with a common 12-V test light. Most of the time, you will find the problem is a blown fuse. Start by checking the fuse and work your way around the cigar lighter circuit to find the problem in a few easy steps. Step 1 Locate the cigar lighter fuse in the fuse panel underneath the dashboard on the driver side. Most fuses are marked for easy identification; if not, check your car owner’s manual or vehicle service manual. Step 2 Pull the fuse off the fuse panel using a pair of nose pliers. Look through the clear plastic case of the fuse and check the metal strip between both fuse metal connectors. If the metal strip is broken, replace the fuse; then, turn the ignition key to the “On” position and make sure the lighter works.
