How Do You Repair Bifold Doors?
Unlike most other types of closet doors, bi-fold doors use pivot pins to ride in an upper track and lower bracket. When your bi-fold closet door is not operating smoothly, there are some quick repairs that you can do yourself. Many times repairs are a matter of tightening brackets or replacing the pivot pins. Step 1 Open the closet doors and inspect the top track. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten the screws that secure the top track to the top of the closet frame. Step 2 Close the closet doors and measure the distance between the door frame and the edge of the door closest to the jamb with a tape measure. There should be a 1/16-inch clearance between the door and the door frame. Most times the sliding bracket in the top track needs adjusting.
