Can SOA Deliver?
There is a great deal of ambiguity around SOA. It is both a buzzword and a real architecture designed to help banks abstract and expose their core systems. Celent defines SOA to be a set of loosely coupled modular services to support both business and IT requirements. In attempting to clarify what SOA is and how the pieces work together, Celent has created a map of SOA and charted how various front end vendors provide solutions to this map. Celent then ranks these vendors on its ABCD analysis. “Front end vendors have primarily focused on providing multichannel support for banking services and developing solutions which increases the customer interaction capabilities of banks,” says Rajesh M R, Celent analyst and co-author of the report. “Depending on the requirements and existing infrastructure of the financial institution, different front end SOA solutions would be preferred by each firm,” says Bart Narter, senior vice president of Celent’s Banking Group and co-author of the report.
