What is an acrostic poem?
An acrostic poem is a poem in which the letters of the subject, person or thing being written about is used in the beginning of each sentence of the poem. This style would allow for the word or topic of the poem to be spelled out line by line. The word acrostic derives from the Greek language and indicates a form of composition or stitching. Similar to the acrostic style of poetry where each letter of the sentence of the poem can be used to stitch or compose one word, name or place.
