Air is a mixture of gases.The lowest two layers of the atmosphere(which contains the air) consist 78 percent nitrogen,21 percent oxygen and one percent other gases- including carbon dioxide, argon, methane, ozone,hydrogen and helium.Water vapour fluctuates between 1-4 percent in the lower layers.The upper layers become gradually more rarefied,consisting mainly of widely spaced hydrogen and helium atoms.
